Human Tissue and Fluid Samples
UVa
Biorepository and Tissue Research Facility (BTRF)
Provides tissue samples from remnant surgical resection and autopsy
specimens linked to clinicopathologic data while maintaining patient
confidentiality. Assists clinical trials in the collection and
processing of blood, urine and tissue samples. Assists in the retrieval
of archival histologic slides and tissue samples from the Department of
Pathology. Offers histology-based research services to support basic,
translational and clinical research.
Contact: Craig Rumpel, MS, crumpel@virginia.edu
Tissue Microarrays
UVa
Biorepository and Tissue Research Facility (BTRF)
Tissue microarray (TMA) technology places up to a thousand discs of
tissue on a single glass slide, which can then be assayed by histologic
staining, immunohistochemistry and/or in situ hybridization. The BTRF
has pre-made TMAs available, and will work with investigators to make
custom TMAs.
